Hello, fellow Viners!
I can say that today is a day that would well qualify for an article in its celebration, but amidst the quandary of today's politics and fiascos, are we missing the point of this special day?
I know that there are better, more important things going on, but we can't forget about George Washington's birthday. After all, he did help create this country, and I daresay he would be appalled at the condition it is currently in. I believe on this day, we all need to revert back to a time where the matter at hand was in creating a country, not tearing it down. On this day, we need to honor him, a great man who contributed to the freedoms we have today, so that we many not take them for granted and misuse them.
We also need to recognize all the other great Presidents of the United States on this day, their great sacrifices and decisions that will always make an impact on our lives for better, so that we may use them as models to make our own great decisions so others may reflect. If there are any people that would have so great an impact on others, it would be our presidents; although it seems that we do not honor them, we honor the mistakes (So we can make assumptions at who is best, or not, at running our country) and minor accomplishments made by those who assume politics and government is just a game today.
Although many of us only see this day as a day off from work or school, we need to at least recognize the importance of such a day as today.
